Linking Verbs Definition
Linking verbs express a state of being by linking the subject of the sentence to another word in the predicate that provides additional information about the subject.
Examples of Linking Verbs
Charlotte is the president of the club.
(“is” links the subject “Charlotte” to the word “president”)
I am the smartest student in the room!
(“am” links the subject “I” to the word “student”)
The parents were our biggest fans in the crowd.
(“were” links the subject “parents” to the word “fans”)
